Q: How do I add captions to a live event without hardware?
A: You can use Live Caption AI to perform software-based broadcast captioning. This eliminates the need for hardware encoders by using a mobile device to listen to the audio feed and transmit text to a Broadcast URL.
Q: What are the “LiveShare” weblinks for?
A: If you are someone who speaks to an audience, like a teacher, a keynote speaker, or a pastor in a church, you can purchase a public URL for your captions to be broadcast over live in real-time as you speak. The time does not expire “2 hours” after purchase or start. You may start and stop as much as you like on the same link, until the amount of minutes is used up.
Now your audience can follow along with every word, from the convenience of their own phone or home computer.
Q: What can I do with my Captions?
A: Open any transcript in your Transcript History, tap “Share” to send them to any other app on your device for further use or processing. Send to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or Grok to summarize and interact with them further, or share via email, WhatsApp & any of your text based apps.
Q: Can I use AI captioning for medical or legal events?
A: Yes, but only with Specialized Acoustic Models. Live Caption AI offers specific modes for high-stakes terminology, reducing the hallucination rate common in standard dictation tools.
Q: I just downloaded the app, and the “red” button is on, but it’s not captioning.
A: Live Caption AI attempts to listen immediately upon opening the app to help you catch what is being said. Sometimes, the microphone doesn’t initiate properly on the first try after downloading.
Make sure to allow the microphone permission prompts and simply try turning the microphone off and then on again. It should begin captioning whatever is being said.
Q: How do I separate multiple different speakers’ voices?
A: When captioning multiple people speaking at once, tap the icon in the the top nav to toggle between “One Speaker” or “Multiple Speakers” icons, or in the top left Menu icon to open the list of options. Select “Caption Settings”. The first item, “Diarization,” detects multiple speakers. Select “Enable” to turn on this feature.
The app will separate the different voices heard. The AI may take about a minute to detect and separate the distinct voices.
The app can distinguish many different speakers, as high as around 12; however, the accuracy of the labeling may get worse with larger numbers.
Upon saving the transcript, you can rename the different speakers the AI distinguished.
Q: How do I enlarge or change the text from Black on White to White on Black?
A: Tap the top left Menu icon to open the list of options. There you will see the option to change “Text Size”, “Text Color”, and the “Automatic Shut-off Microphone” settings to turn off the microphone automatically when no one is speaking.
Q: How do I save the captions I have?
A: While on the main Captioning screen, tap “Start New”. This will give you the option to “Save Transcript” or “Discard” the captions you’ve got.
You can “Rename” the title of the Transcript, which defaults to the date and time it started transcribing.
You may also add relevant, searchable Tags to the document, which are helpful when captioning many different situations.
